Watch Matt Bomer play a gay superhero in this new DC series

It’s flown under the radar so far, but it’s time everyone became aware of DC Entertainment’s newest live-action TV show — featuring Matt Bomer as a gay superhero.

Doom Patrol — following a group of strange, misfit heroes — is the second series to debut on DC’s streaming service. It follows the teen-oriented series Titans, in which the Doom Patrol team made their first appearance.

As this extended trailer reveals, the team is brought together by a man named Niles Caulder aka The Chief (Timothy Dalton).

The team consists of Robotman aka Cliff Steele (Brendan Fraser), Negative Man aka Larry Trainor (Matt Bomer), Elasti-Woman aka Rita Farr (April Bowbly), and Crazy Jane (Diane Guerrero).

None of their powers are your typical superpowers like flying or running really fast. They all also obtained their powers through some sort of tragedy.

The trailer gives brief synopses of our heroes’ backstories, such as Bomer’s Larry, who was a military man having an illicit gay affair behind his wife’s back before his accident.

It’s a familiar hero who brings the band of misfits together when Chief goes missing — none other than Cyborg aka Victor Stone (Joivan Wade).

The Doom Patrol first appeared in DC Comics in 1963. Chief, Robotman, Negative Man, and Elasti-Woman were all part of that original team.

Over time, the team became known as the ‘World’s Strangest Heroes’, whose powers caused them trauma and alienation. The series seems to keep this intact.

The most recent volume of Doom Patrol was written by Gerard Way in 2016. Way also wrote the graphic novel The Umbrella Academy, which is now a Netflix series with Ellen Page.

Doom Patrol premieres on Friday (15 February) on DC’s streaming channel.

Matt Bomer Spills Tea and Adam Rippon Brews Coffee in ‘Will & Grace’ Preview Clip: WATCH

Matt Bomer’s upcoming appearance on Will & Grace is teased in a new preview clip which also features Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon as a barista.

Earlier this year we learned that Bomer would play a smooth-talking, self-satisfied TV news anchor who dates Will and this scene appears to be the seed of that relationship, as Bomer flirtatiously calls Will out for being Jack’s “delightful shallow friend.”

Adds Bomer:  “I have a similar dynamic with a buddy of mine. I’d say who it is but out of respect for his privacy I’m not going to.”

“Well we would never ask,” Jack interrupts.

“It’s Andy Cohen,” spits Bomer.

It’s unclear how Rippon’s character fits in although earlier reports were that he would be making a cameo as himself..
