Lance Bass and Former Boy Band Stars Tell the Story of Lou Pearlman, the Criminal Who Made Them Famous: WATCH

Lance Bass this week presented his new documentary The Boy Band Con: The Lou Pearlman Story at SXSW in Austin.

The film tells the story of Pearlman, who died in August 2016 while serving a 25 year prison sentence for running a two-decade-long financial scheme built on a boy band empire that included Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC, and O Town, that cheated investors out of more than $300 million.

Bass, JC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick, AJ McLean, Aaron Carter and Ashley Parker Angel all feature in the film.

Bass and director Aaron Kunkel sat down with KVUE to talk about the film, which premieres on April 3 on YouTube Originals.

Said Bass: “It’s a huge cautionary tale of being taken advantage of, especially for new entertainers getting into the business.”

Lance Bass and Michael Turchin Are Trying For Twins Via Surrogate; So Are Ian Thorpe and His Partner

The two global gay superstar couples are looking to expand their families.

Us magazine in an exclusive today said Bass told them: “We’re [he and husband Michael Turpin] already on donor number seven right now, so I think we broke a record with how many donors we’ve gone through. But it’s looking like this next one is actually going to work.”

Meanwhile in the land down under former Olympian and gold winning swimmer Ian Thorpe and his partner Ryan Channing are doing the same.

According to Daily Mail Australia, the champion swimmer confirmed the celebrity couple were planning on having a child together after Channing was spotted leaving a fertility clinic in Los Angeles.

Channing said he and Thorpe had decided on a fertility clinic in Los Angeles because of the strict laws in Australia.

“Becoming parents is something that Ian and myself would love to make happen,” Channing said. “Unfortunately the laws in Australia are difficult for same sex males in regards to surrogacy — California state law has really progressed in this space which makes it the best option legally.”

Lance Bass and husband still hopeful after fifth failed surrogacy attempt

Michael Turchin and Lance Bass

Lance Bass and his husband Michael Turchin are still holding out hope for a baby, via surrogacy.

The former NSYNC member said they’re on to their sixth surrogacy attempt but they’re not sure if it’s going to work.

Bass, 39, married Turchin, 31, in 2014.

Speaking to Page Six, Bass said: ‘The most surprising part about the surrogacy process was how long this takes.

‘We had several friends going through this and it took a little while but I think we’ve broken the record for how many donors we’ve gone through.

‘We’re on donor number six right now and we don’t even know if that one’s gonna work. So, it has been a lot longer than I thought.’

Lance Bass then added: ‘But, hey, here’s to a 2019 baby!’

Long journey to fatherhood

The pair first opened up about wanting kids in 2016 and then more recently opened up about their surrogacy journey last year.

Turchin said: ‘It’s like dating profiles honestly. It’s like a Tinder of eggs.’

Lance then added: ‘You’re looking for the healthiest people. You look at the grandparents on both sides. You look for health first.

‘And then you look at “Oh she’s tall”. That’s great because I’m not. You piece it together.’

‘We’ve gone through a lot of egg donors already’ he added. ‘I think we’re on our fourth that we’re looking at right now. It could take a while,’ he said.

Lance Bass previously hosted gay reality dating show Finding Prince Charming and said it was his most favorite job he’s ever had.

He’s also previously said he has plans to travel to space.
